EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is sometimes referred to as tapping. It is a simple yet effective set of techniques designed to lower your stress response so you can process challenging emotions and let go of negative thoughts.
During your initial 75-minute appointment, we will discuss the issue(s) you’d like help with then we will develop a plan together to help you achieve your goals. The overarching aim will be for you to find more peace, clarity and confidence.
In this first session, I will teach you how to use basic evidence-based EFT, a technique that involves tapping on certain acupoints on your body. I will tap on my face and body while you mirror what I’m doing while you talk about your situation. I will also say certain calming phrases for you to repeat while tapping. Studies have shown that this process lowers cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and regulates other bodily processes so that you can switch out of fight/flight mode and begin to process emotions and thoughts from a place of calm.
Once you know the basics, you can use EFT at home by yourself to clear immediate anxiety. For deeper work and long-lasting results, it is generally recommended that clients come for several sessions.
At the end of your initial session, you can decide if you’d like to book in future individual sessions or a package of 3 or 6 sessions. During subsequent appointments, we’ll explore your issue in more depth, employing a variety of counselling and tapping techniques to further help you clear stress and anxiety so you can find emotional freedom.
